Hotel Suite Villa María collaborates with the celebrations organized this week in honor of the patron saint of the seaside village, where the resort is located

Virgen Carmen’s festivity is, in all likelihood, one of the most funny and unique town’s parties in the Canaries. There are several villages, towns and neighborhoods of the Archipelago that in the summer season surprise their own and visitors with the amusement and the sailor spirit that characterizes this kind of parties.

La Caleta, the coast district of Adeje where our hotel is located, was not going to be less, so from last July 22nd until next August 6th it celebrates this unique and funny celebration with an activities’ program perfect to enjoy with the whole family.

Endless activities for all audiences awaits neighbors and tourists this week in the small seafront village and, as it could not be less, our resort collaborates with the planned actions, with the desire that our guests feel part of it and discover this traditional event, as full of the essence of the Canary Islands as our hotel.

Activities as playful as native will delight every family memeber throughout the week in La Caleta, with contests and workshops like ‘Domino’ (a Spanish tablegame), ‘Envite’ (Canarian version of the card game known as ‘Mus’) or Parcheesi. Meanwhile, the little ones will be able to enjoy shows specially designed for them, like the Show of Patrulla Canina, or the magic show of El Calvo y la Rubia.

The Election of Miss La Caleta 2017, which will be enlivened by the comedian Kike Pérez and the dance of Ritmo Sureño and Yulialki ballet, on Friday, August 4th, will be one of the highlights of the celebrations, whose nights will be filled by Canarian and Latin rhythms for the enjoyment of adults, to the sounds of latin orchestras as rooted in the Islands as the Arguayo Band, Toque Latino, Maracaibo and Sabor Azul.

But it is, without a doubt, the traditional ‘Descent of Virgin Carmen’, scheduled for Sunday 6th, the culminating event of this festivity. As in many other ports in the Canary Islands, the virgin will arrive to La Caleta Pier to be embarked and strolled along different points of the bay of Costa Adeje, accompanied by dozens of devotees who will flank the patroness saint on her way.

Music, typical food and water games are part of this unique sea procession that attracts hundreds of visitors each year to watch or even participate in the aquatic spectacle that extends throughout the day.
