The color, the rhythm and the joy are already here… The island of Tenerife lives immersed in its most beautiful and spectacular celebrations of the year, since last February 22nd to  next March 5st … Enjoy Carnival!

Apart from our good weather and our beaches, the Carnival is the perfect excuse to come to Tenerife, declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest. It is celebrated in all the towns and cities of the island and reaches its greatest magnificence in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Puerto de la Cruz. Moreover, it has become one of the biggest (greatest) tourist attraction not only of Tenerife, but also of all the Canary Islands.

The whole world watches admiringly this great party that lasts for days with great shows. Thousands of people dance, disguise themselves and go out to enjoy the unique atmosphere and fun that you can only live here. All this is why the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is considered one of the best in the world and is the most popular after the Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival.

The Carnival of Tenerife 2017 theme is “the Caribbean”, so you will not lack feathers, color, exoticism… Let yourself be seduced by its best dates:

Yesterday, our most important party along the year began with the Big Gala of The Carnival’s Queen 2017, one the main events of the Tenerife’s Carnival. The fantasy “Madame Soleil” dressed by Jorge González Santana, made her the fabulous winner of the Carnaval’s Queen Crown during a stunning contest, where the candidates showed impressive true artworks that can be more than three meters high.

The next great event will take place tomorrow, Friday the 24th, with The Announcer Parade. It is a huge parade to celebrate the arrival of the Carnival, which will be presided by the Queen Judit López García, accompanied by her maids of honor,  Laura Rodríguez Jorge, Samantha Rodríguez Abrante, Carla Cabrera González y Shaila Perdomo Quintero,  as well as for thousands of people and dozens of musical groups that will  walk through the streets of Santa Cruz for hours and hours.

The Day Time Carnival will be celebrated on next Sunday the 26th. Shows, dances, concerts and performances will be distributed in different spaces of the city of Santa Cruz, so that everyone can enjoy the party.

On Tuesday 28th, the Great “Coso Apoteosis” will take place. It is probably the most important parade of Santa Cruz Carnival, developing as a huge party in the streets, with musical bands, the Carnival’s Queens presiding the parade and together with  the “comparsas” (carnival dancing groups), the “murgas” (funny carnival singing groups), floats and spontaneous disguises. Lots of hours of fun while the Caribbean rhythms will not stop ringing.

“Ash Wednesday”, on Wednesday 29th, will celebrate the traditional Burial of the Sardine, a symbolic representation of Mr. Carnal, which means the end of the party. It is one of the most funny and popular acts of all Carnival. Mr. Carnal is dead and the simulated widows and widowers, in tears, accompany the funeral procession.

Even so, the party goes on until Sunday, March 5th, when the concerts and performances come back and, besides, it takes place the Antique Cars contest. The end of the party arrives, finally, with a great pyrotechnic exhibition at night.

MORE IN THE SOUTH

However, if you are staying with us you probably prefer to live the Carnival without moving on so far. Fortunately in the south of the island, the party continues, only a few days later. Between March the 17th and the 27th, the famous International Carnival of Los Cristianos takes place in the town of Arona. This year it is dedicated to “Las Vegas” and promises to be filled with choristers, magicians, and even imitators of Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra. The streets of Los Cristianos will welcome, as usual, the election of the Carnival Queen, the first act of a complete and attractive Carnival program, that you should not miss if you will be staying during those days in our Hotel.
